Prayer for the Church

Father in heaven,

I praise Your holy name. Thank You for redeeming the church through Your Son Jesus Christ to present us blameless and above reproach in Your sight.

In view of Your mercy, we want to present ourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, as our spiritual act of worship. We renounce sinning and choose to fear the Lord. We want to make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with the Lord. We bear in mind that the Lord’s patience means salvation.

You saved us and commanded us to bear fruits unto repentance. Yes, every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down. May the church take heed and escape being condemned with the unbelieving. Fill us with your Spirit to understand Your will and to find out what pleases You. Father, we do not want to be like spiritual babies, help us grow and mature in the Lord!

I also pray the church may be one. As one body, let Christ’s command to love one another take root and precedence over self. Let no bitter envy or selfish ambition rise up to cause trouble to the church of Jesus Christ. But let the love that You have shed in our hearts works perfectly in us: being kind and compassionate to one another and forgiving each other.

I pray for unity in the local church. May the local congregation obey their pastors and leaders and submit to their authority. And may the strong in faith accept and bear with the weak and not to please themselves. I also ask for unity between different churches and denominations in this nation. Lord, let nothing divide us for we who are children of God through faith in Christ Jesus are one in Him. In humility, may we choose to edify and build up the church in love instead of destroying each other. Father God, let nothing divide the church! Bring us all to the unity of the faith, having the same mind and heart, and the same care for each other.

Lord, You have also commanded the church to preach the gospel to every creation. May we fulfil what is in Your heart: to seek and save the lost. Lord of the harvest, I pray send more workers into the harvest for it is plentiful. Fill us with power and fire to become bold and effective witnesses for Jesus in this nation and to the ends of the earth. Lord, create in us a greater hunger and desire to see the lost coming to Jesus, the only Saviour.

When persecution comes for obeying You and doing good, may we endure with great patience and faith. You promise to bless those who persevere, so we do not fear but commit ourselves to our faithful God and continue to do good. For the God of all grace Himself, after we have suffered a little while will restore us and make us strong, firm and steadfast.

This is the last hour and many anti-christs are already here. So are many dreamers, scoffers and deceivers masquerading as the servants of God. At such a time like this, I pray the church will diligently guard herself against heresies, errors and strange teachings, staying alert and self-controlled so that we can pray. Lest we fall into temptations and the lies of the evil one, following another gospel, another jesus or receiving another spirit. Father, You are faithful. Save us from the lion’s mouth and bring us safely into the kingdom of Your Son, Jesus Christ!

Now Father, I pray for revival in the church. Because our land is affected by our spiritual conditions, we want to humble ourselves, pray and seek Your face, and turn from our wicked ways. Lord, hear our prayers, forgive our sins and heal our land for You desire to see the lost coming to Christ. But this will not happen if the church is lukewarm and indifferent.

So Lord, pour Your Spirit upon us to obey and do Your perfect will! We welcome You Holy Spirit, our Comforter and Helper. Help us and create in us a deep conviction, like fire in our hearts, to live a life of faith, love and purity so that the world may know You, the true God and eternal life.

I pray in Jesus’ name.

Amen
