For the first time in many years (41 years since Billy Graham preached at the National Stadium), over 200 churches of different denominations in Singapore came together to pray and evangelise the lost together. Last year, prayer meetings in various churches began island-wide to prepare for a harvest of souls in 2019 at the National Stadium from 17-19 May.
Last night, I served as an usher. Though all available tickets for 55,000 people were given out, a glance around the stadium showed that it was about two-third full. This gave an estimate of 36,000 attendees, which was wonderful nonetheless.
The crusade started with worship, which was followed by a live testimony by a local singer, Olivia Ong, and a videoed testimony by a senior. Then Canon J.John, the night’s speaker, took to the centre stage and preached the gospel. When the invitation was given to receive Christ and for re-dedication, people from four corners of the stadium started to walk down the steps to the centre of the stadium. It was a sight to behold.
Based on some Whatsapp messages I received this morning, 971 people responded; 205 received Christ, 341 rededicated their lives and the rest were inquirers and etc. But this was just the beginning as more evangelistic events were scheduled on the 18 and 19 of May.
Thank God for putting in the hearts of the Church leaders to work together for the Kingdom. Whatever the numbers, it is already a miracle that churches in Singapore are standing in unity as one man for the gospel. I hope and pray that this is just the beginning and not the end of this beautiful partnership until Jesus comes.
To those who have worked hard to make this nation-wide event possible, and to those who have served and prayed, your labours in the Lord are not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).
To God be the glory.
